“This arranged marriage concept is a rubbish one. All these life you are asked not to talk to strangers and suddenly one day you are asked to sleep with one.
Whatever it may be, I won’t say an yes to it in my case.
I want to marry a girl of my expectations, not my parents’.
My marriage will be a love marriage.” Said the Brahmin Boy to his friend.

“So are you in an affair??”

“No no. I am still in search for the girl of my dreams.”

And his search ended at the age of 24 when he got job in a private firm. Shahaana was her name. She matched every expectations that he had about his future wife.
Ten on ten.
And without waiting much time, he proposed her and there was a thumbs up from her side too.

There started, our Brahmin Boy’s first love. In their love story too parks, beaches, ice-creams and night calls played the same characters that they have been handling in every other love stories all these days. Everything was smooth and easy going in their relationship, until, all of a sudden, when Shahaana told him,

“ I told my father about our relationship.”

“Why? That was too early”

“He was planning to get me married and some proposals have already come. So I had no other option than telling him about you.”

“hmmm…And what did he say? “

“He asked me to invite you to our home, day after tomorrow.”

The Brahmin Boy got frightened “Why?”

“Don’t know. Says that he want to have some talks with you.”

To the dilemma in Brahmin boy’s face, Shahaana told “Don’t worry. He talks through mouth, not through hands.”

That ‘day after tomorrow’ he was sitting in the hall of her home with her whole family, her father, mother, 3 elder sisters and their husbands, staring at him. She also had an younger brother, but he didn’t care much about the scenes happening there as he was busy in changing TV channels.

“Are you ready to get converted?” asked her father.

“What?”

“Are you ready, to get converted into our religion?”

“Now, why do you want me to do that?”

“See, my daughter likes you a lot. You are handsome, well behaved and an employed guy. So there is no reason for us to dislike you. Except one, that you are  an Hindu and we are Muslims. And we are not ready to send our child to a family of different religion.”

There was a silence in that hall.

“Oppa Gangnam Style…” shouted the TV suddenly.

Brahmin Boy looked at the TV. He felt as if PSY was making fun of his situation. He looked back to the family, felt as if everyone dancing the Gangnam Style and making fun of him.

That evening Shahaana called him.

“ Shahaana, from the very beginning itself I was sure that this won’t happen in the right way. Let us elope and marry.”

Shahaana didn’t reply anything. She was sobbing on the other side.

“What happened? Why are you crying?”

“I can’t do it. I love my parents more than anything in this world. So let us end it here.”

“What are you saying?!!”

“Yes, its better to end it here. I know it hurts, but we will have to do it. I am Sorry. Please don’t try contact me anymore.”

This is how the Brahmin Boy’s first love ended.

“So are you in an affair??”

“No no. I am still in search for an Hindu girl of my dreams.”

And his search ended at the age of 26 when he was sent to Banglore by the firm. Deepthi was her name.
She matched almost every expectations that he had about his future wife.
Eight on ten.

Again, without waiting much time, he proposed her. A thumbs up again. There started, our Brahmin Boy’s second love. Parks, Beaches, ice-creams, night calls….

On a fine day, Deepthi told him,

“I told my father about our relationship.”

Brahmin Boy was astonished and thought, am I watching the flashback?

“Why??”
“He saw the messages that you sent to my phone.”

“ghosh!!!…and what did he say?”

“He asked me to invite you to my home tomorrow.”

Boy seemed a little frustrated.

“Why are you so nervous? He just said me that he want to…”

“That he wants to talk to me,right??”

Deepthi was confused about what is happening with the Boy now.

That ‘tomorrow’ he went to Deepthi’s home which was near to a temple which was celebrating the annual festival. Deepthi’s family, her father, mother and elder brother was staring at him.

““See, my daughter likes you a lot.” Said her father. Boy nodded his head like an obedient school kid.

“You are handsome, well behaved and an employed guy. So there is no reason for us to dislike you. Except one..” Boy raised his head and looked at her father, as if he was waiting to listen this.

“ That you are a Brahmin and we are Nairs. And we are not ready to send our child to a family of different caste.”

There was a silence in the hall.

“Oppa Gangnam Style…” shouted the speakers of the temple.

Boy looked at the speaker kept outside the home through the window and when  he looked back to the family, he saw the Gangnam style steps, danced by the family.

Deepthi called him that evening. He picked the call and started to speak,

“I know, you love your parents more than anything in this world. So you want to end it here. So it be. And yeah, for sure, I won’t try to contact you anymore.”

He ended the call without waiting for her reply.

This is how Brahmin Boy’s second love ended.

*******************************************************************

“So are you in an affair??”

“No no. I am still in search for an Hindu Brahmin girl of my dreams.”

This time the search ended by 27. Varalekshmi was her name.
She matched some expectations that he had about his future wife.
Seven on ten.

Proposed her, again a thumbs up for him. Yes, his third love. No, no, this time there were no parks, beaches, ice-creams or night calls in the story. They used to meet somewhere by the road, talks for sometime and then they leaves.

On one such meeting, Varalekshmi told him,

“Appa came to know about our relationship.”

“How??”

“Someone saw us talking yesterday and informed Appa about it.”

“Then?”

“I told him everything about you and he wants to…”

“He wants to meet me,right? When? Tomorrow or day after tomorrow?”

“Today”

Boy was more confident this time, since there can’t be any reason for her father to reject him. He went to her home. Her family, her father and mother were staring at him. Her father told him,

“See, my daughter likes you a lot. You are handsome, well behaved and an employed guy. So there is no reason for us to dislike you. Except one….”

“Now what ?!!!!” thought the boy.

“ You are a Tamil Brahmin and we are Tulu Brahmins. We are not ready to send our child to a Tamil Brahmin family.”

Astonished, the boy went speechless. Silence in the room.

“Oppa Gangnam Style..” shouted the mobile phone in the room. He saw her parents too dancing the Gangnam Style.

That evening Varalekshmi called him. But he didn’t attend the call.

This is how Brahmin Boy’s Third love ended.

******************************************************************

“So are you in an affair??”

“No no. I am still in search for an Hindu Tamil Brahmin girl of my dreams.”

Search ended by 28.Vygha was her name.
The lady matched some expectations that he had about his future wife. Again a seven on ten.

This time he didn’t propose the girl. Instead he directly went to her home and talked with her parents.

Her father after thinking for a long time said,

“See, my daughter too likes you.” Boy’s heartbeat increased.

“You are handsome, well behaved and an employed guy.” Boy’s eyes bulged out in astonishment.

“So there is no reason for us to dislike you.” Boy holded his breath.

A pitch silence…..

“Except one….”
